Many people nowadays have suffered from drug or alcohol addiction, eating disorder and other disorders. In many cases the person who has the problems wants to have his/her normal life back. But since addiction or disorder is basically a mental disease, it cannot be cured easily. Most of the times, the person who suffer from this disease get very depressed along the curing process and make his/her condition even worse.
If you are one of them, the key is self-determination. Yes, this whole thing will not be easy. But keep in mind that no one can cure your disease but yourself. Still, this does not mean that you are alone in your battle. You can seek help from good therapists. Support from members of the family will also be a big help. But all of the process must start from you.
To achieve lasting sobriety, the best way is to join a program, such as Drug Rehab, Addiction Treatment and Alcohol Treatment program. Choose a rehab that has staff of physicians, clinical therapists and also psychiatrists who will design a unique rehabilitation plan for each person, with both mental and physical cure needed.
And because supportive environment holds a big role in the success of the program, it is best if you choose a residential drug rehab that provides a nice, comfortable, and relaxing surrounding. This will help you to relax, to have a positive mind and keep you self-motivated along the way.

I agree that drug users and addicts need to be in a residential treatment center. I saw on the Gatehouse Academy site that the longer a person stays in treatment, the less likely they are to relapse. I wonder why more people don't go to residential treatment centers. And do most drug rehabs offer treatment for eating disorders?
Well, I think most of drug rehabs also offer treatment for eating disorders, because basically the cause of addiction and eating disorder are the unhealthy mental condition of the patient.
That's why a special treatment which combined treatment for mind and body is needed.

Treatments for drug addiction vary widely according to the types of drugs involved, amount of drugs used, duration of the drug addiction, medical complications and the social needs of the individual. It has widely been established that abstinence from addictive substances is generally accepted as a successful outcome, however differences of opinion exist as to the extent of abstinence required. Recovery from addiction is a longterm process and frequently requires multiple episodes of treatment. Medication and behavioral therapy, alone or in combination, are aspects of an overall therapeutic process that often begins with detoxification, followed by treatment and relapse prevention.
